You just know it’s mid-October in Sydney when there’s a feeling in the air. Everything just… changes. It’s as simple and as complex as that. The sky is bluest blue (not a single cloud to be seen all over the Sydney’s lower north shore yesterday anyway). The air is warm, fragrant and brightly laced with the unmistakeable scent of jasmine in full bloom, adorning courtyard walls, garden paths boundaries and fence lines all over the local neighbourhoods.
And the Jacarandas! Don’t even get us started. They are to Sydney what Cherry Blossoms are to Tokyo (in our humble opinion). And right now, they’re getting their purple blush on!
And in other breaking news – the frangipanis are starting to leaf up in anticipation of summer’s impending arrival. Soon, those beautiful and abundant blooms will be in their fullest glory. And by December? They’ll be dropping onto footpaths and front lawns on every street – like nature’s most romantic confetti, if you ask us.
Some people think these bloom-drops are a bit of a ‘mess’, but we horticulturists and gardeners can’t help but think it’s bloody beautiful. New leaves and budding blooms are everything!
So enjoy your bluest-blue sky days, warm temps, new blooms and fragrant springtime breezes. Get gardening – or just get us to do it all for you, so you can make the most of your coveted green spaces once again and maximise the very best time of the year – entertaining, relaxing and simply enjoying.
